..and it begins

Well, today was the first day of cutting glass for the bathroom windows in the cabin....it was actually a really interesting experience.

Here's the pattern I made for this project...  The pattern is sunflowers... I had to outline them in red, so I could see them through the glass... So, the red parts are actually going to be yellow...  There's a larger piece that goes on the left, and a smaller piece on the right...  and some kind of beam or part of the wall that goes between the two...

I have worked with glass for years, and put lots of stained glass in a house that we built years ago... But, since having shoulder surgery last year, I realized today, exactly how much hand strength I had lost.  I scored the first piece of glass, and tried to break it to absolutely no avail.  Was kind of depressing...But, I guess practice makes perfect, along with a pair of pliers, and I got the first 25 pieces cut... If you see a number, that piece has been cut...

My hands and shoulders are sooo sore right now...  I don't remember them hurting so bad in the past.

My favourite saying, when dealing with glass is... "It's not IF you are going to get cut... it's WHEN..."  and that was true to form today, also...  Giggle..

The adventure continues..
