...still moving forward! It's electrifying!

Many years ago, when Jim and I first got married, I was complaining that there weren't enough outlets in the kitchen and the bathroom... The kitchen had sparsely placed outlets here and there throughout the kitchen, and wasn't enough to plug in the wax scent Scentsy thing, the Blendtec, the toaster, the Kitchen-aid, the waffle iron, Alexa etc etc etc... you know what I mean... So, Jim, being the sweetheart that he is, he rewired the kitchen and gave me a plethora of outlets, so that now, everything has an outlet... So, you can imagine my heart when Jim sent me a picture of this... I was so stoked thinking it was in a bathroom or the kitchen...  Was a little let down when he told me it was 5' above the floor, in the... living room....?  After he explained it to me, it's kind of ingenious...  These outlets will fit inside a floating shelf that has a front drop down door that is going to be used to hold the flat screen TV, and it has enough outlets to plug in the Roku, DVD player, a gaming station, cell phone chargers, a WIFI, or whatever we want, and have everything plugged in AND hidden.  Apparently, Jim didn't want cords hanging down from the TV and shuffling of "stuff" around the TV... So, he and Lowell designed and wired the living room to conceal everything...  SMRT!!

Jim and Lowell have been working on finishing up the electrics today, and Jim says that they probably ran about 400' of wire today, three complete circuits for the living room alone.  Sunday, they hope to get the scaffolding built and 8 can lighting fixtures in the ceiling of the great room installed.

Well, the scaffolding got built and the cans are going into the ceiling...  Makes me queasy just looking at this picture... And, I am absolutely thrilled that Lowell is not afraid of heights...

..looking up....

Lowell told Jim that it was really hot at the ceiling... go figure... heat rises...

Jim said they got 3 cans installed in the ceiling, and there's another 6 pack box of cans in the cabin... somewhere... we just haven't found it yet...  Along with the 3 cans, 28 electrical baseboard plug ins were installed - all in the living room.. It's going to make me dizzy thinking about what to plug in... (Jim purchased the rest of the can lights yesterday at Home Depot... tried to order them online, but they were out of stock... so, he went to the store - and they don't carry them in the store... So... had to order them online - while in the store... weird)

He put two floor outlets under the sofa and love seats for lamps on end tables!  I really like this idea.. this means you can have a lamp beside the couch or where ever and you don't have cords all over the place....

And, before Jim left this afternoon (Sunday) he did a little decorating, and put another end table in the living room, and a pair of lamps... It's coming along.

This project gets more exciting all the time...  Jim is amazing.. Lowell is amazing and a blessing...

The adventure continues.

  1. It's fun learning about electricity. And being 20 feet in the air is a little daunting, even for one who isn't afraid of heights.
